LAS VEGAS, NEVADA – SEPTEMBER 07: A digital road sign on Summerlin Parkway displays a message asking motorists to save power due to extreme heat conditions on September 07, 2022 in Las Vegas, Nevada. NV Energy asked its customers to conserve energy between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. through Thursday because of extreme heat conditions across the Western United States. Energy demand is high, especially in California, and could cause a low energy supply for Nevada. (Photo by Ethan Miller/Getty Images)

Recently, if you were driving the roads in New Jersey and came across an electronic road sign or board, you would see very clever and funny warnings! Things like "Hold On To Your Butts" or "Get Your Head Out Of Your Apps!" Jersey locals were loving them and they were making social media sites and posts daily! Some others weren't too keen on them, but they did their job and got the drivers attention. Well that's coming to an end!

The Federal Highway Administration has ordered them to stop their Tongue-in-cheek signs. They started this about a month ago and this past Wednesday told New Jersey officials that it needs to stop. The bulletins being banned also included tributes to Bruce Springsteen, "Slow down. This Ain't Thunder Road" and "We'll be blunt, Don't Drive High".

NJ DOT Commissioner, Diane Guiterrez-Scaccetti said, "We're meeting drivers where they are, and these messages have caught on in a big way." "The two biggest messages we want to get across are to slow down, and to obey the state's Move Over Law...These messages are just one of many ways we're trying to make our roads Safer."
