6 Places In Las Vegas For The Best Chili
It’s cold today in Las Vegas. And now that it’s November, there’s more of that to come. Some of us crave soup on a day like this, and others are chili people. There’s nothing like some warm comfort food when it’s freezing (or close to it) outside. But when it’s cold, sometimes we just want to sit under a blanket and stay warm. Not running around working in the kitchen.
TGIT! Thank goodness it’s takeout! Who needs all that noise of cleaning pots and pans and measuring ingredients? With so many options in Las Vegas to eat, it’s simple just to grab and go. And because we are Las Vegas, you know you’re going to score when it comes to quality.
Before we get into where you can get a tasty bowl of chili today, do we even know why we have this delicious dish? Who was the genius who first threw all these ingredients into one pot? Here’s some fun chili history for you, served up by Wonderopolis.com.
Legend has it that chili came to the United States in the 1700s, courtesy of immigrants from the Canary Islands. They settled in the state of Texas then an allegedly brought the dish with them. And we know from all our favorite western movies (and history or whatever) that chili was a popular dish amongst the cowboys of yore (awesome band name, btw).
Here’s another fun fact, the 1880’s saw a huge surge in chili popularity. This was in part thanks to the “Chili Queens” that would serve up bowls at their chili stands. They called the dishes “Bowls O Red” (not a great band name) and started the chili trend that spread nationwide (wonderopolis.com).
And even though we enjoy it everywhere, Texas still gets the credit for bringing us this deliciousness. In fact, it’s their official state dish. Thanks, Texas!
