Disney and Robert Lopez, who has won two EGOT awards are being summoned to court by a singer/song writer. The musicians name is Daniel Grigson. He says the song “Some Things Never Change” from “Frozen 2” sounds like his song “That Girl” that he released back in 2001!
We’ve seen this happen before many times. Disney probably gets sued more than most for songs in their movies that sound very similar to other artists songs. Some are a stretch and some are pretty spot on. In this case, it sounds EXACTLY the same! Daniel said that while he and his 11-year-old daughter were watching the film in the theater, the song came on and he almost stood up in shock. He also said his daughter leaned over to him and said, “Dad, Disney took your song.”
Grigson hired help to make sure he has an actual case. He hired an analyst to listen to both songs and the analyst found both songs not only sound the same, but they’re also the same technically.
Daniel Grigson is asking Disney and Robert Lopez to pay him a share of the profits made from the song. He also wants Disney to stop using the song. Knowing Disney, they’ll settle.
Listen to the Entertainment News to hear the songs and you be the judge!
