Make-A-Wish Comes Through For Las Vegas Teen
Make-A-Wish Southern Nevada recently came through in a big way for a Las Vegas teen who loves Marvel Super Heroes.
His name is Erick, who prefers to be called by his middle name of Josh. He is a 16-year-old high school junior who has suffered from congenital heart disease and kidney failure since he was a child. He battles these diseases every day, and lives on dialysis and oxygen to survive.
According to an article posted by KTNV 13 Action News Staff on KTNV.com, Make-A-Wish Southern Nevada “teamed up with Cityneon Holdings’ Marvel Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N inside Treasure Island Las Vegas” to surprise Josh and his family with a “dream-come-true” vacation to the “theme park capital of the world,” Orlando, Florida.
Josh is a huge fan of Marvel’s Super Heroes, and he especially identifies with Iron Man, who has a repaired heart. The Las Vegas teen was really excited to visit all of “the Marvel-related attractions at Universal Studios, including Marvel Super Hero Island® in Universal’s Islands of Adventure.”
Per the KTNV.com article, Josh and his family stayed at Give Kids The World Village, which is “a Florida nonprofit resort that provides no-cost lodging to children with serious conditions and their families.” They got to spend an entire week experiencing all of the fantastic attractions at Walt Disney World and Universal Studios.
I truly cannot imagine what this young man and his family must endure on a daily basis just to keep him alive. His strength and courage, coupled with his family’s love and support, would inspire anyone who is going through tough times. Any rough patch I have ever gone through cannot compare to what Josh and his family endure each day.
Major kudos to Make-A-Wish Southern Nevada and Cityneon for making this youngster’s dream come true.
