We were told this Halloween story when we were children. And now, we’re telling the same Halloween story to our children. “Watch out! Be careful! There may be razor blades in the candy!” For some of us, it was razor blades in the apples. I was never given an apple when I went trick-or-treating as a kid. Yeah, once in a while there would be someone who wanted to give us something “healthy” like a box of raisins instead of candy, but there was never a razor or anything sharp in there.
When did parents begin warning their kids about this? Did it ever really happen? Have you ever found a razor blade in your candy? Do you know anyone who has found a razor blade in their candy? Remember when parents would take their kids candy to get it x-rayed before they would allow them to eat the sweet stuff. Does that still occur?
I love comedy. I really admire the talent of great stand-up comics. I think what they do is incredible. On the radio, I do what I do in a closed-door studio. I never see the audience. Stand-up comedians have to make people laugh while they are looking them right in the eye. It’s do or die. It takes guts, and great comedic chops.
So, I thought I would share some great stand-up comedy with you every Monday. Why? Because it’s Monday! Everyone could use a good laugh on Monday. So, here we go with our next installment.
The “razor blades in the candy or the apple” Halloween story, or “urban myth,” has been passed down for generations. And now, comedian Arj Barker does a funny comedy bit all about it. Check it out and see if you can relate. Enjoy!
