Join In The Nevada Walk For Apraxia
You and your family can join in the 2022 Nevada Walk For Apraxia this Saturday, November 5th at Centennial High School. Organizers of this event expect it to be the biggest and best yet. Registration is free with the event beginning at 10am. There will also be a special ceremony starting at 11am that day.
So, what is Apraxia? Oh, don’t worry, I had to look it up on Wikipedia to find the answer. That website states: “childhood apraxia of speech (CAS) and developmental apraxia of speech (DAS),[3][4] is an inability to utilize motor planning to perform movements necessary for speech during a child’s language learning process.” This speech disorder does not mean that the child cannot understand language. Instead, they have an inability to turn language into audible sounds.
According to a press release from Apraxia-Kids.org, this Saturday’s event marks the 15th year for the Walk For Apraxia. The 2022 Walk For Apraxia will raise funds for the charitable organization Apraxia Kids which is “the leading nonprofit that works to strengthen the support systems in the lives of children with childhood apraxia of speech (CAS).”
One of the heart-warming feelings that occurs at these events is that parents and families can come together and share stories with other people in the community who actually know what Apraxia is and how it affects children.
So, if you and your family are looking for something worthwhile to do this Saturday morning, and you want to work off all of that extra Halloween candy, you can find out how to join in the 2022 Nevada Walk For Apraxia by clicking this link.
