Guardians of the Galaxy AND Footloose? Wait – what??
Marvel Studios is feeling the holiday spirit, and giving you a very generous early holiday present – the first trailer for The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special! And, kick off your Sunday shoes – there’s a surprise cameo in it!
Guardians filmmaker James Gunn wrote and directed the special, that closes out Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldaña, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff and Sean Gunn — actors who will now all be exactly one degree from Kevin Bacon.
As you may remember, mixtape lover Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), is a big fan of actor Kevin Bacon, and his work in the movie Footloose. The Guardians decide to meet Kevin Bacon as a way to give Star-Lord a little holiday cheer, as he is mourning the loss of Gamora.
Kevin Bacon worked with James Gunn on 2010’s Super, and he’s talked before about being name-checked in Guardians of the Galaxy. He told Esquire magazine last year: “When I saw Guardians of the Galaxy, I went to see it having no idea that I was discussed. It was an afternoon in New York, I was on 67th Street and went by myself, as I often do. I was like, ‘Holy sh**. They’re talking about me. Are you guys getting this?’”
Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige announced the holiday special back in December 2020. The special joins Werewolf by Night as part of Marvel’s Disney+ plans to share stories that aren’t theatrical films or full streaming series.
The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Specialarrives on Nov. 25th And the Guardians will be back on the big screen for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, arriving May 5, 2023.
Men say they are tired of being judged for simple things they love to do whether it’s considered manly or not! A Reddit question was put out asking men to name things they’re sick of being judged for. Responses include non-manly hobbies like baking, or gardening, ordering a “girly drink” instead of a beer, and buying a sports car in your 50s.
Just one of the topics that came up on The Mike & Carla Morning Showthis morning! According to a recent article from our friends at BuzzFeed, most men would just like to do things, no matter what they are and not be “shamed” for it!
If a guy in his 50s buys a sports car you immediately assume mid-life crisis, right? (No – we assume there is some serious over-compensating going on for not having something else. I’m kidding, of course. But are either one of those really a fair judgment? One man responded that he didn’t have enough money to buy the car he always wanted until he got older. Makes total sense, so I suppose we should stop stop assuming, right?
Women are allowed to do so many things that they are not questioned for, but men are usually under more scrutiny. We can compliment one another – in very personal ways. Guys don’t seem to have that privilege. Women can dance with one another. Men? Nope!
I’m not sure if it’s other guys who are doing the judging, or if it’s women doing it. As a woman, I hope not! Either way, men are tired of it. They’d like to be able to freely show emotion, be close to their parents, and not be made fun of if their hairline recedes – because they can’t help it!
Some of the responses were actually very eye-opening. So maybe think twice before you start judging your man for knitting you a scarf, or planting petunias! So, check out the segment from this morning featuring “A Few Things We Thing You Should Know” and then scroll down to see what some men are talking about when it comes to being “judged”!
Pampering yourself with things like massages, and facials
Why can women get all the spa treatments they want, but if guys do it, they’re weird?
Taking long, relaxing showers, or baths
Guys say if you take more than ten minutes, people assume you’re doing something ELSE in there.
Seeking support with mental health
Sadly, many men grew up in environments where this wasn’t ok. But in adulthood, they very much want – and need – help working through things they don’t have the tools to understand, or do it alone.
Not making the first move
Men don’t always want to make the first move, so go for it ladies – ask him out, and plant the first kiss!
Being short
Literally NO ONE has control over their height. Never judge people for the things they can’t control.
Taking their full paternity leave as permitted by their employer
Nothing at all wrong with this. It should probably be required!
7. Complimenting another man
Why not? Women do it all the time.
Not being in the mood for sex
Women (or men) can take it so personally. On man said, “sometimes, we’re just too exhausted, just like women!”
Not peeing standing up
One man said “sometimes sitting is so much more comfortable.”
