Skip Thanksgiving And Celebrate ‘Friendsgiving’
With the holidays right around the corner, it’s starting to build up again…and some people are skipping Thanksgiving this year and settle with celebrating “Friendsgiving”! The Mike & Carla Morning Show brought this up this morning because the main course of Thanksgiving is getting a little expensive when it comes to feeding the entire family!
A new poll asked people if rising grocery store prices had them thinking about canceling Thanksgiving, and a lot of people said YES. According to data released in an article published by Personal Capital, one in four Americans plan to skip Thanksgiving this year to save money . . . and that’s especially true of Gen Z
Some of the numbers revealed in the study say that 47% of people say they plan to host or attend a “Friendsgiving” this year. They didn’t break that down by generation, but chances are that’s a popular option for Gen Z, who spend more time with friends than family.
Now the upside to all this is that when you celebrate “Friendsgiving” all you have to do is have friends over and order pizza!!!! Talking about saving money…how easy is this? Heck, invite as many people over as you’d like…even the ones you really don’t care for!
Truth be told, given the choice of celebrating either of the holidays, 33% are turning Friendsgiving into a pizza party . . . while just 24% are springing for a turkey for their Friendsgiving this year. Lets be honest, if it were up to you, which one would you celebrate?
And again, think of all the money you are going to save for uh, Christmas! Yeah, all that money you save on turkey, mash potatoes and all the other trimmings at the store, just sock it away until December 25th! It’s all covered in this edition of “A Few Things We Think You Should Know” on The M&C Morning Show…plus a few other tidbits you might enjoy!
