SAN FRANCISCO - FEBRUARY 18: A coffinette for the viscera of Tutankhamun is displayed at the Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs exhibition at the de Young Museum February 18, 2010 in San Francisco, California. The results of a DNA study and CT scans on the 3,300 year-old mummy of Egypt's King Tut showed the young king had a club foot and died from malaria. Further DNA testing suggests that two stillborn fetuses that were found in Tut's tomb are likely to be his children. (Photo by Justin Sullivan/Getty Images)

A new exhibit honoring King Tut's Tomb has opened in Las Vegas. And where else would this immersive exhibit of an Egyptian ruler live? Why, the Luxor, of course. The new exhibit is opening to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the tomb's discovery. Tutankahamun's tomb was found by famed archaeologist Howard Carter on November 4, 1922.

Those who visit will get to follow in Carter's footsteps as he first discovered the door to King Tut's tomb. Guests will see letters and telegrams from Carter to his sponsor on the dig, Lord Carnavron. Through these correspondences, guests will be taken back to those exciting moments leading up to the tomb's discovery.

Guests of the new exhibit will take a journey down the Nile river where they will learn about the river's importance in ancient Egypt. Guests will also get to witness the mummification process used on Tut. Learning about the significance of mummification in Egyptian culture will also be a part of the tour.

Tut's tomb and a recreation of the burial chamber will be open for viewing. There guests will get a first hand view of the shrines, sarcophagus, and nested coffins that protected the famous mummy. Guests will also get to view Tut's famous death mask. Visitors of the exhibit will learn about King Tut himself. About his young life and surprisingly early death and about his influence in Egypt.

Perhaps one of the most exciting parts of the new exhibit is the virtual reality portion. Guests who choose this option will get to walk into the same chambers Carter did, and even virtually pick up and inspect artifacts. There's even an audio guide narrated by Carter, so it will feel like he's there exploring with you.

The exhibit is now open, 7 days a week, from 10am to 8pm. Tickets can be purchased at kingtutvegas.com.
