Have birthday parties for kids changed that much...just asking for a friend! The Mike & Carla Morning Show got an email from a mom wondering about protocol when dropping off her kid at a birthday party recently...she dropped him off, then took off to enjoy a couple of hours of "free" time!

When she returned to pick up her kid, she noticed that all the parents had stayed...in fact one other parent had told her that it was customary to ask the host if they needed help with anything before leaving. Seeing that most of the parents were there already, the mom figured that there wasn't much she could offer and took off.

With M&C talking about how other parents felt about this, come to find out that birthday parties for kids have a changed a bit over the years. It not just about clowns, games and balloons anymore...they've gone hi-tech so to speak.

One listener called in to tell Mike & Carla that there are now companies that provide a trailer full of techno games for the kids and provide techs to make sure they understand how to play them. Like anything else, you rent them buy the hour and it's not cheap!

Not sure what your birthday party was like when you were five or six years old, but it's a new age now. Carla Rea talked about a birthday party she attended down the block from her house growing up that actually had a pony! Here she's thinking, "...wow fancy and very cool!" But no so by today's standards where now you have to have tech games, parting gifts and offer valet parking!

You have to listen to the segment from this morning and let us know if you've run into any of these type birthday parties for kids and most importantly, was the mother wrong for just dropping off her kid and leaving him at the party?
