Henderson Police Add 21 New Officers

The Henderson Police Department just welcomed in 21 new officers to their force at a graduation ceremony.

According to an article by Julia Romero on 8NewsNow.com, the newest officers graduated from the Henderson Police Academy, and some even earned their Criminal Justice bachelor’s degrees.

Per Romero’s web post, four of the graduates also participated in the Henderson Police Department’s “Explorer Program,” “which prepares 16-20 year-olds for a career in law enforcement.

And check this out, among the newest additions to the Henderson Police Department, “six different foreign languages are spoken” by these officers “including Arabic, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Vietnamese, and Chinese.

We want to congratulate all of these new officers and we want to thank you for your service to our community. We realize that law enforcement officers have been receiving bad press the past few years. We also realize not everyone feels they have been treated fairly by the police. I’m sure there are “bad apples” in every police force, just like there are in every walk of life and in every vocation.

There is truth on both sides of any discussion about law enforcement in our communities. But, not everyone is willing to put their lives on the line on a daily basis to help protect us. So, amidst all this bad press, we want to take this opportunity to congratulate these new officers who have made the personal choice to make law enforcement their careers. We also want to thank all of those brave and hard-working police officers in all the different communities and departments throughout Southern Nevada who are doing their best to keep us safe.

96.3 KKLZ Hangs Out At Henderson Hot Rod Days

The Henderson Hot Rod Days wrapped up another successful two-day car show at Water Street Plaza at Henderson City Hall in Henderson, Nevada. Car enthusiasts got to explore classic, muscle cars, trucks and more.

The automobile show was in partnership with Boulder City Cruisin’ Association. The weekend was filled with more than just dreamy cars but also LIVE entertainment. Alternative rock-band, Spin Doctors performed giving car lovers music to browse to. The New York City ’90s band is known for their mega tracks, “Two Princes” and “Little Miss Can’t Be Wrong.” Other performers also played making the weekend a tune to remember.

Our amazing and fun middays host, Wendy Rush, stopped by to see what all the talk was about. The yellow 442 Oldsmobile muscle car was one of her favorites. She even saw an old truck that looked like Mater from the movie Cars except the truck was just a normal truck not a tow truck.

Our personal favorite were the T Bucket Models that we saw. We also saw some old-school Monte Carlos that were crafted with the uttermost care

Saturday was an excellent day as the award show took place ranking the vintage cars for the their best features. Congratulations to each of the car owners who walked away with an award for their time and dedication into their vehicles. It was beautiful to see the line of cars dot Water Street, showcasing our community’s talent and passion for hot rods, low riders, muscle cars and so much.
