If you’re new to online dating, you probably should have the heads up on the “dos and don’ts” just to be careful! The Mike & Carla Morning Show got an email from a listener who had just got out of a 9 year relationship and was ready to tip her toe back into the dating world.
As she was going through an online dating site, her girlfriend noticed that she was viewing good looking guys that just happened to be wearing sunglasses…that’s when her friend sent up the RED flag! She said her friend told her to stay away from guys who wear sunglasses in their profile pictures, they’re hiding something! Is that true?
That’s why The M&C Morning Show opened the phone and text lines to find out from other listeners that might know even better. Without hesitation, listeners were texting in their own list of what to do and what NOT to do when going over a site and what signs to look for.
Never realized half the stuff that came up…if he or she is always out of town, dump the person! If they are always wearing a hat…RED flag! One listener said to never connect with someone who is NOT smiling in their profile picture or videos. If they can’t manage to smile for the camera, nine times out of ten, they won’t be any fun and so quickly move on!
If you’re going to meet for the first time, do it in a public setting! If the person doesn’t want to…RED flag! No gym selfies! Oh, the list grows as M&C continued to talked about the topic! If you listen to the segment below, feel free to add your own and let us know about them. Now you might have a few rules of your own that weren’t covered this morning…if so, feel free to let us know and enjoy!
October 4 is National Taco Day! And this year October 4 is on a Tuesday, so obviously you HAVE to get a taco today (or two….or twelve). Before we talk about the best taco places in Las Vegas, let’s get some history up in here.
According to nationaldaycalendar.com, the origin of tacos go way back to Mexico, long before the Spanish arrived there in 1519. Back then tacos didn’t have all the savory stuffings we know of today. It was basically a fresh corn tortilla filled with small bites of fish or other meats.
The sour cream, tomatoes, lettuce and guacamole version of tacos is actually very modern. Less than 100 years old. So…the modern taco is younger than Betty White was…let that sink in for a minute.
The origin of the word “taco” is actually a topic for debate. But many people agree that it came from 18th century silver miners in Mexico. In an interview with Smithsonian Magazine, Jeffrey M. Pilcher, professor of history at the University of Minnesota, said this about it.
“My theory is that it dates from the 18th century and the silver mines in Mexico, because in those mines the word “taco” referred to the little charges they would use to excavate the ore. These were pieces of paper that they would wrap around gunpowder and insert into the holes they carved in the rock face.”
The first accounts of tacos in America came from the turn of the 20th century, when many Mexican immigrants started arriving in America. Over the next few decades the taco would evolve into what we know today. As the meats and vegetables available in America would replace the traditional ingredients from Mexico.
So now that you know WHY you’re eating tacos today, here’s the WHERE we think you just have to try.
