The first installment of "The Great U.S. Treasure Hunt" took place in Las Vegas this past Saturday, July 30th.
According to the Great U.S. Treasure Hunt website, over one thousand Las Vegans registered for the event, but it was a truck driver from New Jersey who planned his route to make sure he was in Sin City for the event who was the first one to find the hidden coin.
Tony Kneisser found the hidden coin under a stone bench at the north end of the pond in Sunset Park in Green Valley. Per the Great U.S. Treasure Hunt website, Las Vegas resident Jennifer Steele was just a few minutes behind Kneisser, who becomes the first two-time winner of the event. He and his family team won in Santa Fe, New Mexico back in January 2021. He pockets one thousand dollars for his efforts.
Participants have to solve a puzzle to determine where the hidden coin can be found. The coin is hidden in public, never buried. Contestants will not have to dig, boat, hike, or climb to find the treasure. Plus, you can register for free at Great U.S. Treasure Hunt website.
You have five more chances in five different cities to join in the fun and try to win the $1000 prize in each location. The next "Great U.S. Treasure Hunt" will take place this coming Sunday, August 7th in Los Angeles. Other cities you can travel to this summer include Austin, Texas on August 13th, New York City on August 20th, Asheville, North Carolina on August 27th, and Milwaukee, Wisconsin on September 3rd.
