It’s a great time to be a Guardians of the Galaxy fan: the intergalactic misfits co-starred in the recently released Thor: Love and Thunder. Later this year, we’ll get the Guardians of the Galaxy Christmas Special on Disney+. And next year will see the release of the long-awaited Guardians Of the Galaxy Vol. 3 feature film.
And next month, we’re getting I Am Groot, a collection of five digital shorts. The first episode will air on Wednesday August 10 (Wednesday has been the day that most Marvel shows drop on Disney+). io9 reports at a panel at Comic-Con, Marvel announced that Vin Diesel will, once again, be the voice of Groot, and it was confirmed that Rocket will appear in at least one of the shorts and that Bradley Cooper will again voice that character.
The show is not believed to be canon – in other words, it doesn’t really take place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, these are just fun stories to enjoy without wondering when they took place, or how the affect the Guardians movies. Check out the trailer below.
In other Marvel animated news, today they announced that season two of What If…? will be released early next year, and Spider-Man: Freshman Year will debut in 2024. Also, X-Men ’97 – an animated series that picks up where the old cartoon left off — will debut in the fall of 2023.
