Vegas Golden Knights Trade High-Scoring Forward Max Pacioretty
The Vegas Golden Knights have announced that they have traded high-scoring winger Max Pacioretty, along with improving young defenseman Dylan Coghlan, to the Carolina Hurricanes for future considerations.
According to the VGK website, nhl.com/goldenknights, General Manager Kelly McCrimmon also announced that the team has signed popular forward Reilly Smith to a new three-year contract. Today’s trade apparently cleared up enough space under the salary cap to allow the team to sign Smith to a contract worth an annual average value of $5,000,000.
McCrimmon went on to announce more contract signings for the Golden Knights. Forwards Brett Howden (1-year deal), Jonas Rondbjerg (3-year deal), Sheldon Rempal (2-year deal), and Byron Froese (2-year deal) will be part of the team moving forward. Plus, they have also signed goaltender Michael Hutchinson to a 1-year contract.
This is a busy time of year for the VGK front office. The 2022 NHL Entry Draft took place July 8-9 in Montreal. The Golden Knights added six young players to the fold. Click here to meet the newest draft picks.
The NHL Free Agency period also began today (Jully 13). Lots of big names have been signed by new teams as players try to cash in on outstanding careers. You can click here for the latest NHL Free Agency tracker.
I’m sure there are more trades, signings, and surprises coming our way, so all we can say is: “GO KNIGHTS GO!!”
