Man Falls Into Mount Vesuvius While Taking Selfie

How many times have we heard the story of a person taking a selfie, but not really knowing their surrounding. Then all of a sudden, something funny or something tragic happens!  This happens way too often these days with people constantly wanting to share their lives on social media!

That is exactly what happened to this man at Mount Vesuvius, although all this happened post selfie!  A 23-year old man and his family scaled the 4,202 ft. volcano. Once at the top, he decided to take a selfie to document it! The man lost grip of his phone and it fell into the crater!  The man then decided to descend down into the volcanic crater to retrieve his phone. That's where the danger happened. He lost his footing and balance and fell into the crater!

Tour guides and rescue were called. The man had to be lifted out from a helicopter. He suffered cuts and bruises on both his back and his arms, but will be ok.

The good news is he will live to tell the story. The bad news, he and his family are facing charges for invasion of public land. In order to continue on certain trails and enter the volcano, you need a specific ticket, which they didn't.
