Pete Davidson attends The 2022 Met Gala Celebrating "In America: An Anthology of Fashion" at The Metropolitan Museum of Art on May 02, 2022 in New York City.

Pete Davidson is leaving Saturday Night Live after this season’s end; the season finale is tomorrow night, featuring Russian Doll‘s Natasha Lyonne as host and musical guest Japanese Breakfast.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, the comedian has been a staple for the past eight seasons after joining the show as one of the youngest-ever cast members at the age of 20. Davidson will now star in a new Peacock comedy, Bupkis which is inspired by his life and will be executive produced by Michaels.

SNL has always cycled through its top talent during its 47 seasons as many of its breakout stars moved on to other projects. In recent years, Michaels has shown an increased willingness to allow time away from the sketch comedy for his in-demand stars to do other projects — many of which he also produces.

The status of fellow SNL stars Kate McKinnon, Kenan Thompson, Cecily Strong and Aidy Bryant have all been under watch, but it is unclear if any will follow Davidson’s leave.
