What did I do on my vacation week? I planned on doing some basic home repairs - patching holes, touch up painting, etc. Do you have any idea of how many colors and shades of white there are? A LOT!

I needed some "off white" paint, so I went to my neighborhood Lowes.

DAY ONE:

Carla: Hi Mr. Lowe's paint man, I need some off white paint. Here's the number from my original paint

Mr. Lowe's paint man: We don't have that color anymore. So what color of off white?

Carla: "Umm - off white, off white?"

Mr. Lowe's paint man: Well, we have Imperfect White, Winsome White, Snow Cap, Marshmallow, Alabaster, Ivory, Ecru, November Rain, Eggshell, Almond, Quail Egg, Seashell, Dovetail, Pure Linen, Varsity White, Blizzard Fog..."

Carla: OFF - WHITE!!

Mr. Lowe's paint man: How about Almond

Carla: Ok, let's try that. Just a quart.

$20 later - I get home, open it up, give it a mix, touch up the wall - too dark!

DAY TWO:

Carla: Hi Mr Lowe's paint man, I'm back. Almond was too dark. How about we try November Rain?

Mr Lowe's paint man: Sorry about that. November Rain is a little lighter

Carla: Let's do it!

Another $20 later - I get home, open it up, give it a mix, touch up the wall - too yellow!

DAY THREE - MORNING:

Carla: Hi Mr Lowe's paint man, let's try again - Marshmallow looks like it might work.

Mr Lowe's paint man: Ok. I'm sorry the others didn't work.

Carla: Me too!

Another $45 later (because I bought some light bulbs, and some Gummi Bears) - I get home, open it up, give it a mix, touch up the wall - too gray!

DAY THREE - AFTERNOON:

Carla: Hi Mr Lowe's paint man, me again.

Mr Lowe's paint man: Oh, no - hi Carla.

Carla: Give me a can of pure white.

Mr Lowe's paint man: Is that going to be too light?

Carla: No. Because I have enough of EVERY OTHER FLIPPIN' COLOR OF WHITE!!

Another $27 later (because I bought some paper towels and Windex) - I get home, open it up, mix it with EVERY OTHER COLOR OF WHITE I BOUGHT - a little Almond, a little November Rain, a little Marshmallow, and some pure white!

BOOM - PERFECT!!!

I should have gone to Disneyland...
