Early in the pandemic, we were stockpiling all the essentials. Just in case the world ran out of toilet paper.
I loved Tab soda when I was a teen. A woman named Trish Priest loved it, too. Mid-pandemic, Trish learned that it was literally being KILLED OFF by its parent company Coca-Cola.
She managed to hoard a bunch of Tab before it disappeared. But now her stockpile is running low. She usually drinks three Tabs a day but she's down to just 23 12-packs - so she's rationing her supply.
She's been hounding Coca-Cola to bring Tab back, along with a scrappy band of Tab superfans that call themselves the "SaveTabSoda Committee." But so far, there's no indication that it'll happen.
They probably need a LITTLE more manpower. Last year, an online petition was launched to show Coca-Cola "how many consumers care about the brand," but in five months, only 1,800 people have signed it.
Tab was Coca-Cola's first diet drink. It was popular throughout the 1960s and 1970s. Several variations were made, including a number of fruit-flavored, root beer, and ginger ale versions. Tab was marketed to consumers who wanted to "keep tabs" on their weight.
And yes - I STILL have this Tab glass! "How can just one calorie taste so good?"
