ZZ Top Sales and Downloads Spike Following Dusty Hill’s Death

ZZ Top music sales and downloads have spiked considerably since the untimely death of bassist Dusty Hill on July 28 at age 72.

Per Billboard, "ZZ Top's catalog was streamed 12.7 million times in the U.S. July 30-Aug. 5, up 20% from July 23-29. The group also accrued 14,000 digital downloads of its songs (up 29%) and 8,000 in album sales (an 82% boost)."

Billboard adds, "[ZZ Top's] greatest hits package 'Goin' 50' enters Hard Rock Albums at No. 5 with 8,400 units earned, up 409%. It starts at No. 20 on Top Rock Albums and No. 129 on the all-format Billboard 200."

Hill was laid to rest on August 3. An exact cause of death has not been confirmed at the time of publishing.
