I'm a native Nevadan - but, as many of you know, I'm from northern Nevada - Reno!
Nevada has always had a friendly "competition" - North vs South. But this weekend Northern Nevada welcomes Southern Nevada, and the VEGAS GOLDEN KNIGHTS. It is, after all, Nevada's team! an Reno-Tahoe residents love them as much as we do in Las Vegas.
VGK are taking on the Colorado Avalanche this Saturday, at one of the most beautiful places on earth - Lake Tahoe, Nevada. Specifically - Edgewood Tahoe Resort on the California-Nevada border.
A regular-season game, but all the more important with the season shortened from 82 to 56 games because of the coronavirus pandemic. It's pond hockey - but without actually playing on the pond. That's because even for as cold as it may get at "the lake" (what us Northerners call it), it never freezes. So, the NHL built the rink on the 18th fairway of the golf course at Edgewood Tahoe Resort.
If you're going to this game, you're very lucky. Buy a t-shirt.
The NHL has posted some pictures on their Twitter page, and I have posted some pictures of my own! - Carla Rea
