The sewer was designed by British engineer Joseph Bazalgette following the ‘Great Stink’ of 1858 and is today worked on by sewer technicians known as ‘Flushers’. Thames Water marks Sewage Week this week with a series of events inviting members of the public down into the underground sewer network and around the Abbey Mills pumping station in east London. Before you ask why would anyone want to a tour of a sewage plant on Valentines Day, know that this particular sewage plant used to do in person tours before the pandemic on V-Day and would sell out way before the day. Well they wanted to make sure people were able to still take part in this valentines tradition, so they're offering the tour virtually. If you're planning to take part in it, hurry because these will also sell out. Nothing says I love you like the scent of sewage. We have more on this story and others in today's Other News!
