The charity is currently working with the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine to test whether the dogs can be re-trained in the next six weeks to provide a rapid, non-invasive diagnosis of the virus. Medical Detection Dogs has successfully trained it’s dogs to detect cancer, Parkinson’s and bacterial infections, through the sense of smell and is now looking for donations to help cover the costs of the intensive programme. They are now using trained dots to help detect whether someone has COVID. They say dogs can sense things way before they happen, like earthquakes and illnesses, so they're trying it on COVID patients.
