June Is Adopt-A-Cat Month
June is Adopt-A-Cat Month. The month brings attention to the thousands of kittens born each year who join the millions of cats already in animal shelters and rescues across the U.S. 2020 marks the 45th annual Adopt-A-Cat Month and is encouraging animal lovers to adopt a “pandemic pet.” The event also coincides with “kitten season.” Hearts Alive Village has already taken in more than 300 kittens and expects to surpass the 1,000 kitten mark from 2019. “Every year, millions of cats end up in our country’s shelters and, according to the Humane Society, 70% of them won’t make it out,” said Executive Director Christy Stevens. “We are working to change that, pulling cats from our local shelter and providing owner support to prevent pets from ending up there in the first place.” All cats and kittens adopted through Hearts Alive Village are fully vetted. This includes being spayed or neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, and micro-chipped. The cost of adoption is $65 for cats over one year old and $100 for kittens under 1 year. Cats are available at a variety of locations including: the rescue’s main adoption center, senior cats at Oldies But Goodies, two doors down, and two Petsmart locations. Kittens are in foster homes and (when available for adoption) can be viewed on the organization’s website: https://www.heartsalivevillage.org/.
The rescue will feature a different cat each week to celebrate the month-long event. And this week, we have a featured pup too for you do-lovers.
Cupcake and Muffin
This week’s cat is actually a bonded pair. Muffin (male) and Cupcake (female) are siblings looking for a new home together. The pair is 2 years old and was adopted out through Hearts Alive Village in 2019. They can’t wait to find their new furever home. Due to no fault of their own, they were surrendered to the Henderson Animal Shelter. Thankfully, they were micro-chipped to Hearts Alive, so we swooped in to save them once again. These lovable cuties are now relaxing at the adoption center (1750 S. Rainbow Blvd # 4) waiting for the purrfect family that will take them both in. Please stop by to meet these babies. The adoption center is open 7 days a week from 10-7 on weekdays and 10-5 on weekends. Their adoption fee is $100 for the pair.
Murphy
Murphy is an 8 (or 10) year old pit mix.
He LOVES people, long walks and give me belly rubs and butt scratches. He is the official greeter at Oldies But Goodies, so he gets to show off his cuteness to everyone who comes in. He’s neutered, UTD on his vaccines and micro-chipped. He’s ready and eager to go into his forever home, but needs it to be just him holding down the canine fort. He’s not a huge fan of other dogs, so he’ll give you enough love for him to be the only pup. If you’d like to meet Murphy and bask in his cuteness, please stop by Oldies But Goodies – 1750 South Rainbow Blvd # 9 any day of the week. He’ll be the crazy cute pupper that meets you at the door. Murphy’s adoption fee is $105.
