LAS VEGAS, NEVADA – MARCH 22: A message on a sign placed in front of the Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign, where tourists often line up to take photos, displays a message about social distancing due to the continuing spread of the coronavirus across the United States on March 22, 2020 in Las Vegas, Nevada. On Friday, Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak ordered a mandatory shutdown of most nonessential businesses in the state until April 16 to help combat the spread of the virus. The World Health Organization declared the coronavirus (COVID-19) a global pandemic on March 11th. (Photo by Ethan Miller/Getty Images)
Mike and Carla Morning Show listener David Fenrick sent us this poem, and we wanted to share it with all of you.
Thank you David for writing this, and to Leslie Fenrick for sending it!
“UNPRECEDENTED”
If you live life long enough, You’ll see most everything,
But no one thought they’d ever see, What 2020 would bring.
Viruses have come and gone, They start and end quite fast,
But this vicious little nasty one, Is like nothing from the past.
It doesn’t matter where you hail, From China to the states,
And no matter what we do, We can’t control the fates.
However we can manage them, As we have always done,
We’ll fight this thing together, For this too shall be won.
As human beings that’s what we do, We always bond together,
Because we know if we do that, There’s no storm we can’t weather.
This one too will come and go, But will take a little longer,
And when this bout is said and done, We all will be much stronger.
Although we have to stay apart, To defeat this ugly thing,
We will make the sacrifice, And once again we’ll sing.
So please keep all your heads up, With hope and prayer, and love,
And now as it has always been, That’s what this world is of.
