Meat Loaf surprised the cast of the Bat Out Of Hell musical during an August 20 performance at New York City Center by appearing on stage and singing “You Took the Words Right Out of My Mouth (Hot Summer Night)” with them.
Bat Out Of Hell, inspired by Meat Loaf’s classic debut album of the same title, premiered in New York on August 1 following overseas productions in England at the Manchester Opera House and the London Coliseum. It then traveled to Toronto and Oberhausen, Germany. The lyrics and book were penned by Jim Steinman, who, of course, wrote the music for the original 1977 album.
