Breast Cancer Awareness Month

As stigma around talking about breast cancer publically faded away, the topic started to make its way onto our television sets. Here are five shows that addressed breast cancer.


Playing House

An amazing comedy written by best friends about best friends, its third season chronicled a breast cancer diagnosis for Emma (Jessica St. Clair) that’s actually based on St. Clair’s real-life diagnosis. Breast cancer wasn’t just addressed honestly, it was addressed with humor.

This iconic series was one of the first shows (if not the first show) that featured a plot that talked about breast cancer.

The iconic teen drama wasn’t afraid to tackle important topics right out the gate, and in episode 18 of season one, Brenda goes through a breast cancer scare with the SATs looming.
