The collections were personally curated by Miller as part of a new deal with Universal Music that puts his catalog under one roof for future archival and new releases. Miller tells us that putting the set together was in a way like having his life flash before his eyes again:
"Y'know, what's interesting is when you have the advantage of looking over that much time, you realize that while I was making my records I was always serious about recording and worked very hard at it, and realize that sometimes you're really, really, really focused and there are periods of your life where your work is much better than it is at other times...And then you realize that 50 years isn't very long and it goes by really, really fast. When you're looking at it from the perspective that I am, 'OK, I did that...'"
Miller and company have two more shows booked for the year, including the Bourbon & Beyond festival on September 23 in Louisville, and are making plans to celebrate the band's 50th anniversary during 1988.
