As promised (and bright and early), U2 has officially unveiled “You’re The Best Thing About Me,” the first single off their upcoming album Songs of Experience.
The decidedly poppy tune is accompanied by flipbook imagery displaying the track’s lyrics, with easily the highlight being the cheeky, “Shooting off my mouth, that’s another great thing about me,” followed by an image of Bono circa Achtung Baby that is then instantly crumpled into a ball.
Just last week, the band released the live video for the track “The Blackout,” a surprisingly raucous tune that harkens back to U2’s sound in the 90’s but with a modern sheen.
So far, a release date for Songs of Experience has yet to be confirmed, but it is heavily rumored to be out on December 1, which is also World AIDS Day.
