The Who has announced a pair of major catalog release projects for later this month, both coming out August 18.

The group will release The Who: Maximum A's & B's, a five-disc package whose 86 tracks represent every single and EP the group has released during its career starting with the group's first release as the High Numbers -- "Zoot Suit" and "I'm The Face" -- and going through to a 2014 stereo remix of "I Can't Explain."

On top of that, guitarist Pete Townshend will be releasing vinyl reissues of his three "Scoop" demo collections -- "Scoop" from 1983, "Another Scoop" from 1987 and 2001's "Scope 3." All three have been remastered at Abbey Road Studios in London and pressed on colored vinyl.

In addition to these releases, the Who has also announced October 27 releases for vinyl reissues of 1970's Live At Leeds and the 1971 best-of Meaty, Beaty, Big & Bouncy.

The Who begins a short six-show West Coast run on Friday (August 4) in Las Vegas, while Townshend will perform five Classic Quadrophenia shows starting September 2 in Lenox, Mass.
