McDonalds is Giving ‘Rick and Morty’ Their Szechuan Sauce!
For those who are a fan of the Adult Swim show Rick and Morty, you know the importance of the Szechuan sauce. The creator of the animated series, Justin Roiland has been trying to get his hands on the McDonald’s sauce one more time.
For those who were alive in 1998, you may remember the fast food chain’s brief run-in with the sauce. During the release of Disney’s Mulan, the company released the dipping sauce. Needless to say, the Asian inspired sauce became a hit.

During the season 3 premiere of Rick and Morty, the main character is attempted to get his hands on the sauce. While being imprisoned by aliens, Rick tells Morty that he would do anything to test Szechuan Sauce one more time.
After the episode premiered, it caused other people to wonder how they can also taste the dipping sensation one more time. There were a few online petitions floating around the internet asking McDonalds to bring back their promotional item.

Well, the fast food company definitely listened to what was happening because they are sending the show’s creators a jug of their sauce. As revealed by Roiland on a Comic-Con panel this past Friday, they promised to deliver a jug next week.
Currently, there is no word on if they are going to re-release the promotional item. However, a spokesperson for McDonald’s did reveal some information about the Szechuan sauce. In an interview with the Huffington Post, they stated that “We never say never, because when our customers speak, we listen.”
The spokesperson continued to note that their “sauce is so good that it is worth waiting nine seasons or 97 years for.”
Back in 2010, McDonald’s allegedly brought back the sauce for the Winter Olympics in Canada. However, Roiland stated that he was unable to get his hands on a single packet.
Starting next week, Roiland is not going to have to worry about running out of Szachuan sauce for some time.
